Need to Know Q&A
You asked, I answered!
Feel free to ask additional questions, I’m here to help.
Q. Who is Kate Linden?
A. Long story short is that Jennifer Grant (yours truly) is the owner & principle photographer of Kate Linden Studios and that Kate Linden is a very fitting name.
Q. We’re ready to book you. How do we go about that?
A. Get the ball rolling by submitting this form HERE It’s all pretty simple and straightforward. In fact, the entire booking process can be done online!
Q. If we book you, what happens next?
A. To help you out we’ve created a nice little document that covers the entire wedding photography process from start to finish. From the time you book us until after the wedding, all the details are there! See more about the Process HERE
Q. Do you have back-up equipment?
A. Absolutely! I have several back up bodies, lenses and everything I might need. After all, there is no re-do on your wedding day. Rest assured nothing will stop me from capturing your special moments.
Q. What kind of equipment do you use?
A. My system is Canon and my bag is full of the loveliest L-Series glass, primes & zooms. Everything is high grade and hand selected to meet my creative mission. Every piece has been chosen for the way it does its job which means pro quality day in, day out.
Q. How many weddings have you photographed?
A. I started photographing weddings in 2001 and since then, I have covered well over 200 weddings. Currently I accept a limited number of wedding commissions per year as well as photographing a few select weddings with area photographers such as Abby Rose Photo and JK Photography.
Q. How many photographers are there?
A. On staff there is just me (Jennifer Grant aka ‘kate’), however, I have several associates available as needed including my husband who used to shoot every wedding with me for an awesome husband & wife team. (He still shoots, just ask for him!)
Q. What if something happens and you can’t make it to our wedding?
A. While I haven’t missed a wedding yet and certainly don’t plan to, I do have other professional photographers available should the need arise that are equal to my quality of work or better. It pays to have friends who are photographers! And I’d have to be on my bed dying before I’d miss a wedding.
Q. Are you insured?
A. You bet! Many of the top Metro Detroit locations for weddings require it so I’ve got it. Honestly, I couldn’t call myself a pro if I didn’t!
Q. do you shoot weddings digitally or with film?
A. Starting in 2004, we went completely digital although I still have all my old film equipment…I just can’t let it go! I’m itching to shoot a film wedding, so if you’re interested in film coverage, get in touch and we’ll cook up something special just for you!
Q. do you shoot more than one wedding event per day?
A. No! In fact, I won’t shoot more than one wedding per weekend. I like to focus on one couple as fully as possible giving my all which means 110% (and a very tired me the next day!)
Q.Can I get a discount for low season or weekday weddings?
A. Regardless of when you are getting married, I will be putting the same amount of effort and time into creating your unique wedding memories. The time it takes to shoot, edit and enhance does not change with the day of the week so I do not offer seasonal or weekday discounts. I also only accept a limited number of commissions per year so once those spots are filled I won’t accept any additional weddings to ensure amazing quality for my clients.
Q. Do you travel?
A. Without a doubt! Travel is very much encouraged. I love exploring new places with my wonderful couples and their closest family & friends. Whether it’s for your wedding or engagement, we’ll have a blast.
Q. Will you save the date for us?
A. ABSOLUTELY. All I need is our save the date contract plus your non-refundable retainer of $500 and I’m all yours! Get the process started HERE
Q. Do you accept cash, checks and credit cards for payment?
A. YES. All forms of payment are cheerfully accepted. If you pay in cash/check in full at the time of booking, you can save up to 10% off your total package!
Q. We’re back from our honeymoon and are dying to see our pictures-Can we?
A. If you’ve got me {Jennifer Grant} as a Facebook friend, you’ll be able to see your super sneak peek the night of your wedding and then you’ll get to see an extended sneak peek on the blog in a week to two weeks.
Unless your honeymoon really was a whole moon phase, you still have a little waiting to do. As promised, we’ll have everything online in 4-6 weeks and your proofing DVD in hand as well. Don’t worry–I’ll send you an email as soon as they are ready!
Q. What type of albums are available?
A. We offer a wide range of albums at a variety of price points to satisfy your dreams. Some of our favorite album companies include: Graphistudio, Finao, KISS, and Leather Craftsmen. From very modern and simple to elegant and classic, there is an album for you!
Q. Do I get my wedding negatives and copyrights?
A. YES. All of our wedding collections (except one) offer the release of your Legacy Art Archive (aka digital wedding negatives in high resolution format) on a DVD for your unlimited personal printing usage. Make sure to keep us informed of your current address so we can get it to you!
Q. Where can I find pricing?
A. To learn more about our pricing, schedule an appointment to meet or chat on the phone. We’ll go over in detail the various pricing options including custom packages so you get everything you want and nothing you don’t. Wedding coverage starts at $2000 with most couples spending $4,000-$6,000 on wedding photography including coverage and bespoke (custom) albums and fine art canvasses.
Q. Can we make copies of our archive DVD?
A. Absolutely! It’s your disc, your memories. Copies are permitted AND they are encouraged as they are your negatives. Extra copies are a good thing. You can also order copies for a nominal fee if you prefer.
Q. Are you married?
A. Aren’t you getting a little personal?
Yes, my husband and I got married back in 2001. Our wedding was actually the catalyst for diving into wedding photography {9} years ago. (Wow time flies!) We were high school sweethearts and Dan proposed to me the fall of my senior year in high school surrounded by the football team and all my friends. We’ve been together 11 wonderful years and counting.
